THE US MOVIE POSTERS
Ah, the beautiful Americans! For us, these posters are among the most beautiful movie posters in the world, along with French movie posters and Italian movie posters. What do the United States, France and Italy have in common? The quality and variety of movie poster artists, who were responsible for creating the magnificent illustrations that characterize the most beautiful film posters. Among the most famous American movie poster artists we can cite Drew Struzan (who illustrated the famous film posters for Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, the Goonies), John Alvin (to whom we owe the magnificent movie posters for Gremlins, Legend, E.T., Cocoon...), the immense Frank Frazetta (illustrator of the posters for Conan the Barbarian, Tygra...), or Bob Peak (who is at the origin of the movie posters for Apocalypse Now, Rollerball, Excalibur...).
As in all countries, American movie posters can have several formats, however the most common format, systematically sent to theatres for the promotion of films, is the 69x104 cm format, i.e. a format a little larger than the French medium format of 60x80cm. A format which is also quite practical when it comes to decorating a space, because these movie posters fit almost anywhere, above a sofa, in a stairwell or in an office. Restaurants are particularly fond of this poster format, as can be seen in the famous dance scene from Pulp Fiction and its restaurant covered in movie posters!
