David Lynch's Cinema

David Lynch, born in 1946 in Montana and deceased in 2025, is an emblematic figure of contemporary cinema, recognized for his unique style mixing surrealism, mystery and often disturbing imagery. After studying visual arts, he turned to cinema with his first feature film, Eraserhead (1977), which became a cult film thanks to its dreamlike and disturbing atmosphere. Lynch went on to direct several major works such as The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (1986), Wild at Heart (1990), Mulholland Drive (2001) and the television series Twin Peaks (1990-1991, revived in 2017).

Lynch's cinema is characterized by a very elaborate visual and sound aesthetic, which plunges the viewer into a universe that is both fascinating and disturbing. His films often explore the dark areas of the human soul and the cracks hidden beneath the surface of small American towns or large metropolises, with a non-linear narrative and strong, sometimes violent images
