This year, the Cannes Film Festival poster pays tribute to director Spike Lee, who will be president of the 2021 jury!
Not only is Spike Lee the winner of the festival's Grand Prix in 2018 for his film BlaKkKlansman, but for many years he has had a close relationship with the festival where he has screened numerous films, including his first feature film Nola Darling in 1986. The festival poster is inspired by a photo of Spike Lee, taken from his film Nola Darling where he played a role.
Regarding the Cannes Film Festival, the director himself says that: “On a personal level, the Cannes Film Festival (besides being the biggest film festival in the world - without wanting to offend anyone) has had a huge impact on my career as a filmmaker. You could even go so far as to say that Cannes shaped my trajectory in world cinema. "
